Vivanco VK17G Scart Lead Gold Review
I bought this lead to connect a Sony widescreen TV to a JVC DVD player, and so far i have been very pleased. A similar lead is also available, without the gold connection, but i recommend you go for this one. The lead is very long, and the pins fitted just nicely into my hardware without any problems.
Of course what really matters here is the image quality - and that is excellent. While you might expect a Sony screen and DVD to offer a nice picture, this still relies on the connection to some degree, and this lead lives up to the task - images were bright, clear and sharp with this lead, and that alone makes it recommended.

Excellent way of watching cable & DVD around the house
At home, having ITV Digital (now Freeview), Norwegian Satelite TV for my wife AND DVD and video boxes, while in the lounge I could watch all manner of things. However the two portable TVs in other rooms could only get rather fuzzy signals from an indoor aerial each.

Enter the Philips SBC VL1200 set and VL1205 Extra Receiver. Running your video sources through the transmitter and connecting the two receiver boxes to the portables gives picture quality and choice unheard of before.

If youve seen these and thought I bet they arent that good, think again, the picture quality apart from being slightly on the rich side (slightly redder than normal TV, but you can adjust this on most TVs) is excellent. There seems to be no interference, ghosting or any signal degredation. If you want to try, you can even change channels from upstairs using the IR extender, but I havent bothered with that.

Thats about it really, they do what it says on the box and do it well. So if you fancy watching something other than terrestrial 5 channels on your bedroom portable and dont already have a cable or satellite feed, look no further than this.

Good value for money as a second set
A good quality set, wider than some other 14" TVs due to the stereo speakers on either side of the screen. Pity that the connectors at the front of the screen werent hidden by a small panel - they detract from the set.

Picture is good, with rich colours. Oddly, it takes 10 or 15 seconds to react to being turned on - youre not sure youve turned it on. The FM radio does the job very nicely, and means you dont need a radio and a TV.

The much touted enhanced stereo mode I found to be very disconcerting and not pleasant to listen to, but perhaps thats just me. The standard stereo is more "normal". The set also allows for "Enhanced 4:3" to get rid of the black bars at the top of widescreen transmissions.

All in all, a TV with those extra features to set it apart from the normal cheaper 14" TVs.
